This weird colorful object appeared unexpectedly just a few yards off shore in the surf on a chilly, foggy evening in January 2015. It lingered for about five minutes. Our footage was taken quite precariously off the balcony of one of Myrtle Beach’s oceanfront hotels but we managed to capture the object on three single ‘frames’ in sequence just as it was spinning away. It moved too fast to view as anything more than a sudden flash, and unfortunately, the camera was positioned so that the original footage was filmed sideways.
The beach was totally deserted, and the fog carried large drops of condensation, yet this thing was zipping around in the dark right out in front of the hotel. Initially, there were two small, bluish-green ‘lights’ that moved back and forth above the waves almost like a ‘ski-do.’
The image below is of the first frame. Note, all that we caught was a blue-green trail.
A few moments later, the lights appeared to ‘submerge,’ and to change shape and color, and a ‘day-glow’ yellow/orange/red ‘object’ rose out of the water. It was impossible to tell its actual size, form or definition due to its speed, the darkness and the weather conditions, but it rotated unmistakably like a top, and emanated tiny sparkling lights that seemed to remain ‘connected,’ before it suddenly shot off down the beach, heading south.
The image below is of the second frame just as the object emerged from the water.
We were curious to know if anyone else has seen something similar, especially since we’ve heard others in this neck of the woods talk about objects that appear to be flying in and out of water. We thought it might be a lighted drone, but couldn’t imagine what any drone would be doing out there under such conditions, especially one that could also navigate lightning speeds at 90 degrees.
We called it a Scootnik. (Perhaps, Spooknik will do just as well.)
